Have A Better Garden By Using Your Own Compost

Maybe you are like us in that you feel it is pretty interesting when you consider temporary dehumidification and why you want to know more about it.

It is usually not enough to learn enough or know enough just to get by with anything. We are bombarded each day with things that demand our attention or at least want it, and so we have to be very selective about what we decide to give our attention to. We are here to serve your thirst to have more knowledge, and by so doing we also serve the same purpose in ourselves.

Today we will talk about a few items that we know mean a lot to you, and by so doing we hope you are enriched and are a little closer to finding what you need.

If you do not know anything about organic gardening, you may not be aware of what compost is. Compost is an organic substance used in gardening to help fertilize and enhance the quality of the soil. It offers plants the minerals and nutrients they require and it also is a mulch and a soil conditioner. Yet another helpful thing from compost is the soil can hold more water, which the plants need to have.

You will find that there are numerous ways to composting but the simplest way is the no-turn composting method. Normally a pile of compost is turned weekly to speed up the decomposition, but with this method you do not have to do it. You only need to add a lot of coarse materials to the compost pile. One helpful way is to put in straw to the compost so it results in air pockets so the pile can aerate. This approach is as effective as the turn-over method. The compost will be at the bottom of the pile and you should carry on with putting in organic materials and coarse materials at the top.

When you have plenty of leaves in the fall, you can use them for making your compost. You can round up all of the leaves and place them in a pile under a shaded area. The shaded area should have a tendency to be moist and damp as well. Make sure that the pile is loose so that air can circulate. The compost from the leaves should be ready in 4 to 6 months, when it can be distributed over the soil. Compost made out of leaves may not have enough nutrients to be used as a fertilizer but it is great as a conditioner for the soil.

Waste from fruits and vegetables are great for composting since theyre loaded with nitrogen and carbon. Feel free to use other table leftovers also but you have to be sure that they wont attract animals and pests. Helpful leftovers include coffee grounds, eggshells, seaweed, kelp, grass and shrub clippings and pine needles. Other things that may be used too are sawdust, wood chips, corn stalks, wood ash, tea leaves, and cardboard or shredded documents. Make sure you cover your garden compost to ensure pests will not come and create problems. If you add new materials, its best to add some lime or calcium at the top of your pile. Doing this will help minimize the stench originating from your compost pile.

You will see that composting is certainly not tough to do. Since you will use the waste in your own home, youll not be wasting anything and you can save cash from having to purchase good soil. Composting will help make growing plants easy and make your plants and flowers healthy.
